đ° Unplug Your Little Jackrabbits: Forney's Ultimate Guide to Screen-Free Fun
Letâs be honestâour kidsâ screen time is starting to rival that of NASA mission control. Between the iPads, YouTube rabbit holes (pun intended), and video game marathons, itâs getting harder to convince our little Jackrabbitsâand Lady Jackrabbits, of courseâto blink in natural light.
But hereâs the good news: Forney and the surrounding towns are packed with fun, affordable, and downright adorable places where kids can run, play, build, bounce, and laugh without ever asking, "Can I have your phone?"
We did the digging (like proper Jackrabbits) to round up the best kidâfriendly spots that donât suckâand yes, weâve weeded out the boring ones. Whether youâve got toddlers with energy that could power the grid or tweens glued to Minecraft, weâve got your weekendâor weekdayâplanned.
đ Eden Playhouse (Sunnyvale)
An absolute gem just a short hop from Forney, Eden Playhouse is like a toddler fever dreamâmini grocery stores, pint-sized fire stations, dress-up closets, tiny kitchens, and even a pint-sized vet clinic. Itâs the kind of place where your kid can pretend to be a doctor, a firefighter, and a barista all before snack time. Great for kids 6 and under, and honestly, kind of adorable for grownups too.
â Zoe & Emmaâs Cafe (Terrell)
Finallyâa cafĂ© that gets it. Zoe & Emmaâs serves up lattes and lunch in one room and lets your kids loose in the next. The indoor play space is clean, cute, and filled with toys that donât make obnoxious sounds. You can actually finish your sandwich while your toddler plays chef or builds a block tower taller than themselves. Think of it as a spa day, but with chicken nuggets and WiFi.
đŒ Spellman Museum of Forney History (Forney)
Donât sleep on this one. Tucked behind City Hall, the Spellman Museum is surprisingly hands-on. Vintage school desks, old fire engines, and a spooky jail cell kids love to pretend theyâre âlocked inâ for crimes like excessive whining. Itâs free (donations welcome), air-conditioned, and even kinda cool for grownups who like old maps and stories about âthe way Forney used to be.â
đ Coffee & Cuddles at Goat Ranch Coffee Co. (Forney)
Yes, you read that right: Goats + Coffee. Located just on the edge of town, Goat Ranch Coffee Co. has a relaxed outdoor area where you can sip a cold brew while the kids meet friendly goats, chickens, and more. Occasionally they host goat yoga or craft days, but even on a regular afternoon, itâs just good, weird fun. Bonus: The banana bread slaps.
đĄ YesterLand Farm (Canton)
This oneâs more of a weekend outing, but worth it. Old-fashioned amusement park meets petting zoo meets roadside carnivalâbut better. In the fall itâs pumpkins and hayrides, in the spring itâs baby animals and Ferris wheels, and in the summer they throw foam parties, bubble zones, and mini zip lines into the mix. They even have an âold westâ town with live shows. Feels like stepping into a storybookâwith funnel cake.
đ BONUS: Create the "No-Roblox Challenge"
Make it a game. Print out a card that says:
âToday I didnât play Roblox. Instead IâŠâ
Then let your kid fill in the blank each day you do something new. Whoever gets five different activities first gets to pick dinner or win a $5 gas station snack run.
