Ross Is Open in Forney, and Your Wallet May Already Be Nervous

Forney has another new store to add to the list, and this one may be especially dangerous for anyone who believes they are “just going to look.”

Ross Dress for Less is now open at Village at Gateway along U.S. Highway 80 in Forney.

The store is located at 11610 W. U.S. Highway 80 and is part of the growing retail development along the highway. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation lists the Ross project at approximately 22,000 square feet. Construction was listed as beginning in July 2025, with the project originally expected to be completed in early 2026.

Ross was previously announced as one of several retailers planned for Village at Gateway, joining Burlington, Rack Room Shoes and Five Below as new additions to the development.

Now it is no longer sitting on an opening list or construction plan.

It is open.

Which means Forney residents can finally participate in one of America's greatest shopping traditions: walking into Ross for one specific item and leaving with six things that were never discussed beforehand.

Ross is an off-price retailer that sells clothing, shoes, accessories and home merchandise at discounted prices. The company describes the shopping experience as a treasure hunt because the merchandise changes frequently and shoppers never quite know what they are going to find.

That concept should work pretty well in Forney.

You might need a shirt.

You might find a shirt.

You might also find a pair of shoes, a kitchen gadget, a candle, a blanket and something for the house that somehow becomes your responsibility because you were the one who spotted it.

That is how these things happen.

Another piece of the Village at Gateway puzzle

Ross joins a growing list of major retailers in the area.

Village at Gateway is already home to businesses including H-E-B, Home Depot, BJ's Wholesale Club, Target and Burlington, with more retail development taking shape around them.

The growth has turned the U.S. 80 corridor into one of Forney's busiest shopping areas, and Ross adds another national retailer to the mix.

For local residents, the biggest benefit may simply be having more choices without having to drive across the metroplex for everyday shopping.

Of course, there is another side to that.

More stores means more opportunities for someone in the family to say, “I'm only going in for five minutes.”

Nobody believes that anymore.

Ross Stores reported 1,917 Ross Dress for Less locations as of May 2, 2026, and said the company expected to open approximately 85 additional Ross stores during fiscal 2026. Forney is now one of those locations.

So, welcome to Forney, Ross.

The residents are happy to have you.

Their credit cards may need a minute to process the news.
