Hops & Handmade: Brews on Bois D’Arc Hits Downtown Forney

Dust off your fall plans — Brews on Bois D’Arc returns to historic Downtown Forney on Saturday, September 27, from 4 to 10 p.m. This free, family-friendly event puts local craft beer, live music, and a newly expanded artisan market front and center along Main and Bois D’Arc streets.

This year the City of Forney has teamed up with the Forney Arts Council to bring an Artisan Craft Market to the festival footprint. Expect makers selling pottery, textiles, wood and metalwork, candles, jewelry and other locally made goods — the Arts Council is accepting vendor applications through Sept. 5, and organizers will finalize the vendor list the week of Sept. 8. The new partnership aims to pair great local beer with the kind of one-of-a-kind shopping that makes an evening stroll downtown feel special.

On the beer front, Brews on Bois D’Arc has historically featured craft breweries from across North Texas, and social posts from event organizers have teased a strong local lineup. With Forney Brewing Company now pouring from its downtown taproom, it’s a safe bet the hometown brewer will be part of the festivities — expect small-batch pours alongside guest taps from the region.

Along with brews and makers, the night will feature live music and food options suitable for families and festival-goers of all ages.

If you go:

  • Admission is free!
  • No outside alcohol or pets are allowed on the festival grounds.

A little Oktoberfest spirit — with a Texas twang: expect polka-adjacent fun without the formalities. Think communal good cheer, fresh pours, and a marketplace of handmade goods rather than lederhosen contests — a comfortable, small-town take on fall beer festivals that’s more “porch party” than “Bavarian bierhall.” The combination of local brewers, live music and a curated artisan market should make this year’s Brews on Bois D’Arc the most craft-forward yet.

We’ll keep watching for the official brewery and band roster.
